Description: In this video I compare the sound level from the electric crosskart siren/noisemaker thing to the sound level from the engine in my F150 truck running at full throttle at a distance of 15m from the sound meter. From what I understand, this is typically the standard for measuring sound from vehicles. The truck has a lower pitch and deeper tone, of course, but it and the siren are outputting almost exactly the same volume - 63 dB from the siren and 66 dB from the truck. I'm considering printing another version of the siren with fewer and wider ports to lower the pitch a bit more. With 4/6 at 3000 rpm, the 4 port rotor is producing 200 hz and the 6 port is 400 Hz (frequency ie pitch = rev's per sec * # of ports per rotor), which is similar to the 300 Hz from a 4 stroke 4 cylinder GSXR 1000 sport bike for ex (Hz = rev's per sec / 2 rev's per cycle * # of cylinders). I want more of a dirt bike or atv sound. A single or twin cylinder 2 stroke dirt bike would produce around 150-300 Hz (rev's per second * # of cylinders, 1 rev per cycle). 3/4 or 3/5 ports will drop the pitch for the siren down to around 150-300 Hz and produce as close to the same sound as a conventional 2 stroke crosskart engine as I'm going to get using this method. Again, any suggestions are welcome. Making the siren: youtu.be/OPQ2G8a9Ux8 Website: resystech.com Follow RST on Facebook: facebook.com/RenewableSystemsTechnology
