Description: From the time capsule – 1981 – Late one night, on the spur of the moment, a small group of college seniors at Boston University, who were casually discussing the pros and cons of making prostitution legal in the United States, decided to commit their debate to posterity by crowding into the studio of the campus radio station to record an hour-long, heated exchange of ideas for a talk show titled “That’s Your Opinion.” Surprisingly, much of what the students addressed in this riveting, and sometimes amusing, point/counterpoint debate is still relevant and pertinent today as advocates for sexual freedom push and lawmakers at the state and local level consider decriminalizing the act of receiving payment for sexual favors. Budding journalist Marcus Jones was one of the BU seniors in the radio studio. He produced and moderated the program, which he describes as the most fascinating, compelling, informative and thought-provoking discussion he ever recorded.
