In this tutorial, I will share with you a lampshade/lantern that is made out of 30 hexagonal units. The construction is based on rhombic triacontahedron. This DIY lamp is covered with the diamond shapes and is perhaps the least spherical lampshade I have made. This is because of the pointy angle it generates, making it somewhat difficult to conform with the smooth appearance of the sphere. The lamp is only small, measuring 15 cm x 15 cm. If you desire a larger lampshade, simply enlarge the template uniformly for all 30 units. For your safety, please use the low energy or LED globe. I personally would not go over 15 W.
