Description: This episode shows how to make a DIY floor lamp by pouring epoxy resin over LED strips in the natural crack of a reclaimed wood beam. I really like how the light from the LEDs shining through the epoxy resin take the shape of the natural crack in the reclaimed wood beam. I also made a DIY concrete base for the lamp, with a 3D printed insert that holds acrylic rods. The acrylic rods connect the concrete & 3D printed base to the reclaimed wood beam with the epoxy-covered LED strips. PATREON LAUNCH - thank you in advance for your support! • patreon.com/modustrialmaker For the epoxy resin pour, I used Total Boat high performance epoxy resin. The side-emitting LED strips are linked to below - I used 120 LED/m warm white LED strips. And yes, the epoxy resin covers the LED strips, but I used two LED strips in case one burns out :) For the concrete mix, I used Fishstone's HP50 + super six admix with PVA fibers. This concrete mix is super flowly and yields a very clean surface right out of the concrete form. Lastly, the 3D printing -- I modeled the 3D printed insert in Fusion 360, and printed it on my Anycubic Mega S 3D printer. I used Matter Hackers Pro PLA filament for the base. \\ FOLLOW ME // • Instagram: @modustrialmaker - goo.gl/F4UdEs o • Blog: modustrialmaker.com \\ LED products // • side-emitting LED strips: bit.ly/37vqWzq • LED power supply: amzn.to/36k26Rn • power jack: amzn.to/2vc87mj • on/off switch: amzn.to/36qLBTA \\ CONCRETE LINKS // • High Performance Concrete Recipes: bit.ly/2srpxtI • HP50 concrete mix: bit.ly/2YL4MFA • Super Six concrete admix: bit.ly/2PHbatm • PVA fibers: bit.ly/36wrVOL • Cake Fondant Tool for perfect edges: amzn.to/2w0JCVx • Helical Mixing Paddle: amzn.to/2GFyxjF • Concrete mixer: amzn.to/2kEnZFi • Concrete pigments: bit.ly/2GxzWrf • 1-part concrete sealer: amzn.to/2xW7Gth • Black 100% Silicone Caulk: amzn.to/2B64iRY • Paste Finishing Wax: amzn.to/2kF565e • “From Scratch” GFRC Recipes: goo.gl/35RvFM \\ EPOXY LINKS // GET 15% OFF TOTAL BOAT with the CODE: “MODUSTRIAL” (when purchased through jamestowndistributors.com) • Total Boat 2:1 Epoxy Resin: amzn.to/2ElKHgz • Torch: amzn.to/2XEp2ug • Tuck Tape: amzn.to/35jN5zj • White epoxy resin Pigment: amzn.to/2LC3o1z o Rubbing Compound: amzn.to/2pEdPuQ o Finishing Compound: amzn.to/2D3zGPu \\ HIKOKI / METABO HPT TOOLS // o Multivolt cordless Miter Saw: bit.ly/35uSUdb o 2.25hp Router: amzn.to/36czcUG o Drill & Impact Driver Kit: amzn.to/2NcYXv5 \\ SURF PREP SANDING// o SurfPrep 5” random orbit sander: bit.ly/2OauxeJ o SurfPrep 4”x3” rectangular random orbit sander: bit.ly/2Ozm2sJ o SurfPrep foam sanding pads (to 320 grit): bit.ly/2pFb8sZ #diy #concrete #woodworking #reclaimed wood #bench #diybench #resin #epoxyresin #epoxy #epoxypour #epoxystabilized
