Description: In this video, hear from clinical social worker Cindy Winterberger on our health system’s efforts to honor our military personnel. Of the 17 million veterans in the U.S., only about one-third receive medical care at Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities, while the other two-thirds receive hospital care at civilian hospitals. Covenant Health’s military recognition program helps identify veterans as part of the hospital’s admission process. Hospital employees then have the opportunity to recognize patients for their military service through special pinning ceremonies. Since launching the initiative in Nov. 2020, we are proud to have served more than 11,000 veterans and service men and women.
