In it, I’m going to give you an effective path to develop a couple of prominent scale patterns, and the best part is, these are patterns that you may actually already know! Over my over 20+ years of teaching hundreds of people how to play guitar, I started to notice that many of my private students had worked out some scale shapes on their own, (prior to learning the text-book scale patterns). But, even though students would try and use these shapes to solo, they did not fully understand what it was they were doing with them. Most guitar students can figure out a couple of places to “fool around” with playing lead on the fingerboard and they can even have some success with it. But, one problem is they do not know much of anything about what scale it is they are playing. Another problem is they need to develop knowledge of; keys, harmony and tonality in order to properly use the shapes. Beyond anything else a student needs to learn what the scale is and where the root note is located. That will be our goal for this guitar lesson.
