Description: #cops #police #lawenforcement Some of my thoughts here: 1. Do not have an over dependence on your supplemental tools: taser, pepper spray (which can negatively impact other officers as seen here) and even batons. TASERS DON'T WORK ALL THE TIME. Engage accordingly. There is no reason this dude needed to be roaming and escalating for the time he did. Decisive action is absolutely necessary and any and all policies that inhibit this should be eliminated. 2. Increase your grappling skills. I know I beat this drum regularly but it's because it rings true. There is no greater physical skill a patrol officer can have than that of being able to grapple another human being into compliance/handcuffing. 3. Learn to work TOGETHER. One officer says it in the video: calm down, work together guys. This is absolutely critical. Very often, the "pig pile" ends up being self-defeating because there is no skilled coordination in the efforts to subdue another human. This is a flaw in modern police training because PPCT doesn't teach this and in most situations is a virtually useless set of techniques.
