Description: NEW: JOIN ME ON PATREON: patreon.com/TheMobReporter Shocking allegations of cops planting evidence and stealing luxury watches — worth half a million dollars — during a raid on a lavish, underground casino just ruined a big anti-organized crime case. Let me tell you about it. The Mob Reporter here with a bizarre case of cops seriously screwing up something that was publicly bragged about by police brass as a significant piece of policing. The original raid and arrests looked like something out of a James Bond movie. A $10-million, 53-room, 30,000-square foot mansion north of Toronto, Canada, surrounded by stone walls and iron gates. Inside, under the cathedral ceilings, were 10 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms, gambling equipment, top-shelf liquor and exotic food — and a lot of cash and guns. Criminal charges were quietly dropped against the alleged three casino kingpins after defence lawyers found evidence of serious police misconduct, so serious, in fact, that if proven it would amount to criminal offences. Let’s start with the wrist watches. For starters, they were inordinately expensive. One, a Patek Philippe bought in Paris, is worth about $300,000; the other, a gold-faced Jaeger-LeCoultre bought in Hong Kong, is valued at about $150,000. After the search, when police were leaving, investigators took exit videos and photos — but the watches can no longer be seen. A gun holster did the opposite of a disappearing trick. It appeared 17 hours after photos show it wasn’t there before, the letter says. York Regional Police didn’t deny the allegations when I asked them about this. But they did defend their probe.
