Description: #BodyBizarre #BornDifferent #ConjoinedTwins Craniopagus conjoined twins Safa and Marwa were separated recently at London's Great Ormond Street Hospital. The first operation took place in October 2018 and aimed at separating the entangled blood vessels and brains of the two girls then the skin was expanded and the last operation to separate and reconstruct the skulls took place in February 2019 and lasted 50 hours involving more than 100 specialists. The twins were able to see each other for the first time and had to undergo physiotherapy to learn to do simple tasks like sitting and moving their heads. They left the hospital in July 2019. Their grandfather and widowed mother, who had seven children prior to the twins, said :"We are indebted to the hospital and to the staff and we would like to thank them for everything they have done". The two separated girls will return to Pakistan as soon as physiotherapy is over and will go back to London in the coming years for regular check-ups.
