Description: As with any pet, it is better that they can stay at home whilst their owners are away but with increasing numbers of people rearing their own hens, many hen owners have a real worry when it comes to taking any holiday and what to do with their hens. Eccentric owner, Julie Smith is on hand to make sure the hens have an eggscellant holiday too. There is now no longer a risk of any bird-brained owners 'fowling' up on holiday cover for their feathered friends. The rural idyll of Cowden is the perfect holiday getaway for your poultry pets. But she prides herself on providing a very personal service, a home from home for your hens. Julie has 13 hens of her own, which are all re-homed battery hens (commercial hens). She thinks they make the perfect pet and all have individual characters. She often takes her own hens out in her hen stroller, (housing up to 2 hens), and this service is also available for her boarding hens, but only if their owners feel this is something their hens would enjoy. The quaint village of Cowden, in Kent, is a typically English rural hamlet, with its own pub, church, post box, and telephone box, making it the perfect setting for a quiet stroll and a little sightseeing for the hens. Julie also provides a collect and return service for clients unable to drive and can cater for any special dietary requirements or regular treatments such as worming that the hens may require during their stay. Most of her clients come from the Kent and Sussex area although some guests have come from neighbouring counties. As with most boarding establishments, she will only take on healthy hens but has visited hens in their home environment prior to booking if owners have any health concerns. Any pet owner going on holiday wants their pet to have the best possible care and attention and Julie tries to ensure her service is as good as at home.
