Description: I got into the music business at a very young age. I started busking at farmers markets and local open mics when I was 12, crossed the country to be on a reality TV show at 15, then experienced the ups and downs of a major label for 2 years, before finally going independent at 18 and self-releasing my next 2 albums. All of that was pretty stressful and one of the people that shielded me from a lot of the stress was my mom. She handled a lot so that I could still have a childhood and could focus on my music. But I wrote this song when I was 18 and I was ready to start taking on more. We had gone through an intense 3 years, spending so much time together on the road, in the studio, and even at home, I was basically living with my manager. We handled it as best we could, but we were just too tangled up. It was a painful and confusing time, for both of us. My story may be unusual, but I think most parents and teens go through feelings like these at some point. Born was about all those emotions, letting her know I needed to go through these things, because it was the only way I was going to learn and grow. Incredibly grateful to all the artists, musicians, film crew, and actors who contributed to this song and this video. Including friends and family who volunteered to appear in the video.
