Description: Riding my motorcycle around the town of Bombay Beach and the Salton Sea. in the mid 20th century this area was a popular vacation destination for swimming, fishing and boating, but had been abandoned because of various possible reasons. Rising salt levels in the lake, water toxicity, flooding, a law prohibiting fishing, and the lake's strong odor are likely contributing factors. Recently the town has seen some renewed activity as a destination for artists, who have created displays in the town proper and on the lakeshore. On my trip I saw a fish plane, the Bombay Beach Drive In, Pirate's Alley, and many other things. Some of them I couldn't figure out if it was art or not. But I had a lot of fun either way! And met some great people!!
