Description: Because of a large amount of feedback and requests from my viewers, I present the Blue Morpho Butterfly (or one of the many variants...) Woodburning, or pyrography, on a nice piece of basswood. I used colored pencils for the finer details on the wings, and for the entire caterpillar. I tried a new technique (at least new to me) using mica powder of different blues with pearl, and brushed the powder onto/into the wood. The intent was to show at least some of the beautiful iridescent characteristics of the butterfly wings. I used: Prismacolor acrylic pencils Detail Master Sabre IV pyro set with the writing nib Basswood A bazillion coats of clear spray shellac I'll get back to turning again soon, and the bandaged thumb will be explained.
