I'm a little hesitant about releasing the source code of this project. Why? 1) Established companies are already making products that do the same task, but better, and easier to use! Especially Adobe: helpx.adobe.com/animate/how-to/auto-lip-sync-sensei.html 2) In order to get my code to work, you need to get the "Gentle phoneme aligner" to work: lowerquality.com/gentle "Gentle phoneme aligner" doesn't work on Windows (I use Windows), occasionally works on Linux, and does work on Mac. (You can use a Docker image as well.) However, every time I've tried to reinstall Gentle on a new computer, it often takes hours of debugging, installing libraries, and all that. Maybe I'm just a bit unlucky with tech, haha. Either way, the reason I feel hesitant about sharing this with the world is that most people asking me for this software are kids who are aspiring to become animators. While I do think that kids are extremely capable of amazing artwork, I'm concerned that if it took me, a college-educated computer-science graduate, hours to get all the pieces up and running, it will be even harder for all the young animators out there! I made this video on lazykh for more details: youtube.com/watch?v=4D2UPodc7E0 I've already tried providing as much "customer support" as I can through Twitter DMs to help others get this working, but it's often more headache for both of us, and it rarely ends up working in the end. I'm worried a public GitHub Repo will lead to more demand for me to provide "customer support". Some friends and I have considered running the code on a server, and then everyone can access the server's abilities. Then they don't have to worry about differing OSs, hardware, file systems, etc! Maybe that will happen, maybe it won't. Thanks for understanding! And I really recommend checking out that Adobe Animate link. It's pretty dang similar to my project, and backed by way more talented programmers than me!
