Description: Hello Everyone, We’ve gone through one of two examples of carpentry (Daiku). Today will be the second example that shows traditional carpentry in a modern-day setting and was offered by a carpenter who works mainly as a Sukiya-Daiku and a Machiya-Daiku. Mr. Masuda, at the time of the interview, was in charge of the construction of a Chashitsu, a cottage-style teahouse with a Kayabuki thatched roof, situated in a Tsuzuki Private House Garden of Yokohama City. #japanesewoodworking #carpentry #builder When Mr. Masuda entered the circle of carpenters as an apprentice, his senior carpenter taught him "Goitassha", a phrase from the Edo period. This refers to proficiency in six technical skills needed to be a master builder who leads the team: Evaluating Wood Parts (Shikishaku), Judging assignment of wood materials (Sumigane), Handiwork such as wood planing and scraping (Teshigoto), Techniques for chiseling and scraping to turn sketches into forms (Horimono), Crucial calculations for assembly and construction (Sanjutsu), Ability to design interior space and draw sketches (Eyo). To make this video getting better, I've done a few interviews and started writing the script very carefully as well, then hired a professional Female Voice Over to read it afterward, at the same I have added some shots of mine, new effects work, new music added and a new creation is created as follows: "Amazing Six Technical Skills Needed to be a Master Builder of "Sukiya" and "Machiya" Carpentry” ►It's Sukiya-Style tearoom “Rin-Tei and Kakuun-An” was built by the citizen of Yokohama, Machibushin.
