It will be priced at $41,000 in America and €36,133 in Europe. The company claims the car will have 402 hp (299 kW) and 472 lb-ft (640 NM). 0 to 60 times will be around 5.5 seconds and range based on the European Emission Test Cycle is said to be 316 miles. EPA range will be lower by about 20%. // Vinfast VF9 The VF 9 is a larger vehicle with 3-row seating for either 6 or 7 passengers. It has the same powertrain but with a larger battery, as its range is said to be 422 miles, again as measured by the European test cycle. Acceleration to 60 mph is a bit slower at 6.5 seconds. Prices start at $56,000 in the US and £49,280 in Europe. If you are confused by the model designations, that’s understandable. The VF 8 used to be known at the VF e35 and the VF 9 as the VF e36. If you look at the top photo above, you will see all 5 electric cars VinFast expects to introduce this year. The VF 5, VF 6, and VF 7 are A, B, and C segment vehicles not intended for sale in the US. // NIO ET5 Chinese electric car brand NIO has followed up its ES6 SUV and ET7 saloon with a compact version of the latter, christened the ET5. With a similar profile and ultra-slippery drag coefficient of 0.24, the 4.7 metre long ET5 boasts a range of over 621 miles courtesy of a gargantuan 150kWh battery. Despite the bulk of the cells it’s properly quick too: a 150kW asynchronous front motor and 210kW permanent magnet rear motor combine for 483bhp and 442.5lb ft of torque, meaning 0-62mph takes just 4.3 seconds. The glasshouse and panoramic sunroof are designed to let in as much natural light as possible, but you can also choose from 256 ambient lighting colours when you decide to dictate the mood. Deliveries will begin in China in September, and NIO says it has plans to enter markets in Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark in 2022. Domestically the ET5 will cost 328,000 Chinese yen, about £38,000 in the UK. // INDI One The One has a 95 kWh battery pack that the company says is good for a range of 275 miles (442 km). We are not told exactly how much power it makes, but the company claims it can sprint to 60 mph from nought in 5.5 seconds. The targeted MSRP for the vehicle is $45,000, roughly the price of a Tesla Model 3, although the launch edition will be better specced (and more expensive), featuring air suspension, 22-inch wheels and other extras. // Aptera Aptera’s Never Charge technology can give you up to about 40 miles per day of free driving powered by the sun.
