Description: In this video I teach 5 basic, but powerful old school Taekwondo kicking techniques that can & have been effectively utilized in Kickboxing, MMA, & Muay Thai style competitions. These are based off of power-era variations designed for optimal damage. 00:13 Front Snap Kick 02:05 Linear Round Kick 05:18 Circular Round Kick 09:26 Side Kick 11:49 Axe Kick The power-era side kick was thrown almost like a back kick without a turn. The slight inward hip & shoulder rotation with the heel above the toes ensured the heel was much more likely to be the first and primary part of the foot to strike the target, while simultaneously protecting the torso and face from counter back kicks & spinning hook kicks. It also positioned your hips to chain follow up back kicks, side kicks, and spin kicks if you missed with the initial side kick. It is objectively the superior variation for KO combat sports if the goal with the kick is maximum damage output, or, for a safer & more versatile recovery after the kick is thrown. -------------------------------- Subscribe to Kwonkicker for more martial arts tutorials with a focus on training Taekwondo for modern Kickboxing Sports, MMA, and practical applications.
