Description: Creating powerful product images that really stand out requires thought, planning, and a good knowledge of lighting. bit.ly/Powerful-Product-Photography In this video, I discuss how I created this image of two lipsticks on a ledge, help you identify the lighting, and share the lighting diagram from the final shot. The idea behind this shoot was more conceptual, rather than a normal advertising-style image, and I used props, perspective and lighting to really play on the idea of these dominant, empowering cosmetics. The lighting was a key part of this, and I used the common technique of using gradient lighting on one side to really enhance the shape and form of the products, but without creating harsh reflections. As you’ll see in the final lighting diagram, this was a three-light setup and the techniques I discuss in the video are ones I often use for my commercial product photography.
