Description: Good bright sunny day to all! Today let me upload something different, something I love to do such DIY's before I went bananas on car audio and home theater: Setting up solar energy at home! My first solar panel setup went back 2014 and climbed up the roof and never got back again since. And just recently I found out the old solar inverter is about to retire and needing some replacement. But before we get to the whole solar installation process, please watch my previous videos about the first solar setups I did: First few solar panels tested -- youtu.be/4GM1SPntKzM Another set of solar panels -- youtu.be/oY2WGqCpz5c Solar setup reverses watthour meter -- youtu.be/rduh9obNm0k Ok guys, without further ado, let's get this thing installed! 00:00 - Unboxing the brand new Solis-Mini-1000-4G grid tie solar inverter. 00:35 - A glimpse of the old inverter Sun-1500G-LCD. 00:45 - To remove inverter, turn off AC MCB breaker or AC isolator first. Then turn off solar PV next. DO NOT interchange this process! 00:55 - I need to replace old cables as well and refresh the DC wiring side for a more efficient output. 01:05 - OUT WITH THE OLD. Remove old inverter. 01:15 - Had to climb up the roof the re-configure the photovoltaic panel wirings as well. 01:35 - Remove old solar combiner box. Yes I did DIY built that one. The panels must be wired in PARALLEL before so I needed a PC combiner box. 01:45 - Now the new inverter needs the panels wired in SERIES to get the most voltage juice flowing. Sorry I never made video of it but it is just very pretty straightforward connecting the PV panels using a pair of MC4 connectors. 02:00 - @wickedying and @ChurchTheFrenchBulldog doing their thing again. 02:35 - Install the new Solis 1000w grid tie inverter. 03:10 - And IN WITH THE NEW! New solar grid tie inverter is in place. 03:35 - Single phase 3 prong 240V AC cable is securely attached to its harness. 03:50 - To commission the inverter, turn on AC breaker first. Then turn on solar DC isolator switch next. Again, DO NOT interchange this process! 04:25 - New grid tie inverter is now operational and commissioning renewable power to the grid. Alright, that was quick and easy. Many of you will be asking if I am giving away free power back to the grid. Well my watthour meter is a bi-directional one and exporting electricity back to the grid subtracts usage in 1:1 ratio. How cool is that! Once again, please do hit that subscribe button and please let me know what you think and ask questions down in the comment section! Be bright and be excellent all the time, people! See you all next week for a new subwoofer builds.
