To the uninitiated, it can really throw a player off. And, that is why players need exposure to different material – because that is exactly how a player can stretch their technical ability. In this lesson, we’ll work on studying how to master a melodic phrase. I’ve got two examples here in part one of the lesson and another two examples in Part Two. After you learn all of these unique grooves, (plus the accompanying melodic ideas), and once you have a chance to perform them with the associated MP3 MIDI jam tracks, you’ll learn how to play a lot better over some of the most popular melodies (ones that will often technically mess up players who’ve never been exposed to them before).
