Description: From everyday choices for drinks and snacks to quitting smoking and managing stress, each decision can be a steppingstone towards living one’s best life. As coaches and coordinators offering the National Diabetes Prevention Program (National DPP) lifestyle change program you help people with prediabetes set goals and take steps toward better health every day. Yet, how do you get a potential participant to join the program? What words do you say? What stories are shared? And most importantly, what resources are available to help you make these crucial moments meaningful? In this 60-minute webinar hosted by CDC’s Division of Diabetes Translation, a new suite of materials will be shared for supporting our version of the Session Zero, the Discovery Session, as part of recruitment strategies. Experts will also present learnings from organizations currently using Session Zero and share the overall conceptual framework that was used to create the new Discovery Session resources. Finally, a National DPP lifestyle change coach will share their insights and experiences using CDC’s Discovery Session resources and we will hear from a diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES) services expert on how these concepts and strategies might be applied to DSMES.
