Description: In this metal detecting episode I'm expanding the search area and come across some stunning finds. My relic hunt #4 of this year started nicely with an small horseshoe and two 1700's buttons. It was a game of depth with a few signals that were actually on edge of detecting range. The sound of the silver ring for example was very difficult to distinguish from all the ground noise and small bits of iron. Same goes for the "Tudor" button. From the metal detecting perspective it's satisfying to discover finds like that, but also disappointing, because it shows the technical limitations. The silver surface (structure and color) of the ring looked identical to silver found on very old (1000-1300) coins. I wonder if this could be a (reliable) age indication... That brings us to the find of the day, which in my opinion is the 1225-1235 silver (Denier) coin. The question is: Could putting a hole through archbishops head be considered as an act of blasphemy in medieval times? Churches back then didn't had "symbolic" character, they (supposedly) had power. Even when the intention was to make a medallion out of a coin, I don't think, this would be the appropriate way... Well, if I had a time machine that would "teleport" me 800 years back into the past, I would probably think twice about taking this medallion with me. But that's all my personal speculation, maybe it wasn't that bad back then :). All in all it was an incredible hunt with bonus finds like the medieval buckle, or the previous silver coin from 1630. I hope you enjoyed this adventure with me. Thank you for watching. ✉ To receive notifications about my #MetalDetecting adventures, check if the (subscription) bell icon is set to "ALL".
