Description: Hi guys, Like I said in the video, starting with the War on Drugs, this is the first in a short series of videos which are meant as a follow-up to one of my earliest videos entitled “Why the Black Community is Poor.” I discussed the "what" in the original video, now it is time to discuss the "Why". So, drug laws, focusing on marijuana as the most socially-benign example of this, disproportionately affect low-income neighborhoods, which themselves are disproportionately black. Further, while the penalties for drug possession are often minimal (though civil ordinance violations and offenses can still carry fines and require court summons which are sometimes unaffordable for those in low-income neighbourhoods), they needlessly get individuals involved in the court system, which then has long-lasting effects on their career, social, and economic standing. By reforming the drug laws in the United States, we would at least take the first step to prevent many from entering a life of crime through something as benign as smoking a drug. People with a drug addiction should be encouraged to seek help for that addiction, rather than be locked away or punished through court fees and fines. I've already started working on part 3, however, I will most likely upload it in a couple months as I have so many other topics I would love to discuss on here before going back to the black community. If you haven't watched it already, here is my video on WTBCIP Part 1: youtube.com/watch?v=Ru4SVUlNfMY ___________________________________________________________________ How To Support This Channel: Patreon: patreon.com/mynameisjosephine Donate: paypal.me/mynameisjosephine BTC: 3MM6UJGSD7oPHrf9rYWCeAAR66LWq73wQn ____________________________________________________________________ Get to know me better: Twitter: @nameisjosephine Instagram: @jossymathias ____________________________________________________________________ Artwork by the lovely @burntsugah on twitter!
