Make sure you are not in front a cliff. Black Talon unique range burst combo is stronger than Izanagi’s Honedge. At full sword energy, quickly use two heavy attacks for 8 sword ammo burst, instantly dealing 6 sword swings of damage. This is possibly the highest long range burst on any weapon in Destiny 2. Only using its charged heavy is very high dps at range. It gives great mobility and burst, but it eats up 33% more ammo as opposed to its non max sword energy firing mode. Black Talon can 1 combo kill ALL an equal power level champion, even before barrier champions can react (make sure to stagger or disrupt the other two 1st). With the High Energy Fire and Charged with Light mods, hold move and spam heavy attack at full sword energy will delete champions instantly. Other buffs and debuffs work as well. Two players using double heavy sword attacks (8 ammo version) at max energy will 1 combo a Barrier champion at equal power level. Black Talon rivals Machine Guns in RANGED add clear by entering a hidden ammo efficient mode. By discharging SOME sword energy by holding block, heavy attacks will only use only 1 ammo per projectile. These projectiles track, have infinite range, and refund ammo every 2 kills. This is 105 enemies on a full max 70 magazine. You can store Black Talon’s ammo efficient state by swapping to another weapon. Like all swords, Black Talon’s light attacks pierces ALL elemental shields on match-game. Black Talon aerial attack does AMAZING dps safely from the air, evading enemy projectiles and cheesing them above walls. By jumping and using only fully charged heavy attacks you can safely melt and flush out nimble bosses moving around cover (like that son of a birch KARGAN in the Insight Terminus). Black Talon is incredibly ammo efficient. It reaches 70 ammo reserve with mods, receives 24 ammo per Heavy or Sword Ammo Finder brick, or 40 per regular brick with the new scavenger artifact mod. Be sure to keep 20-25 sword ammo for final bosses. Black Talon can comfortably replace Izanagi in Night Falls. Its ammo capacity and quantity per ammo brick is the BEST of all exotic weapons. Although ammo drops are consistent with Heavy or Sword finder, it can rain or drought power bricks randomly, so a good green ammo back up like Mountain top is recommended. Mountain Top is my favorite back up for Black Talon. It does not require precision hits, has infinite range, has good dps if hitting reload after firing with a heavy weapon reload mod, hits harder than aggressive frame sniper rifles, has a whopping base 19 ammo reserve, and regens ~6 shots per ammo brick. 3 Mountain Tops is worth 1 Izanagi Hone Edge or 2 black talon full charged heavies. God roll snipers and fusion rifles are good substitutes, offer more burst, but much less ammo efficient.
