This is when it often becomes a dirt ride instead. Our channel now had hundreds of dirt bike videos covering reviews, and dirt riding techniques. In the past I took my previous DR650 on dirt rides if my dirt bike was out of action. Search our channel for dirt riding gear too. But it was always with knobbies, heavy duty tubes and rim locks to allow lower air pressures, and the sloppy suspension was revalved to behave better in rough conditions. But of course, Suzuki don't put rim locks on the DR650 so there is a chance of ripping the stem out of your tubes at lower air pressures. Adventure riders often seem to obsess about tyres instead of simply adjusting their air pressure to get better traction. We have done a whole video ab Sure, it is still a big heavy pig in off road conditions, but it's surprising how far you can get with the pig. But our current bikes are still stock. The terrible Trail Wing tyres. Soft suspension. The tyres could slip going in or coming out. Either could be nasty. Normally we would stand on the footpegs but we just don't trust our tyres. So it's sitting and leg paddling most of the way. Now it gets interesting. Trail Wing tyres at 25PSI are not a great idea in this terrain. That went better than expected. But you can see why the Trail Wing tyres are often affectionately called Death Wings. However, lower air pressures can go a long way to achieving good traction with an inappropriate tyre. If we dropped the 25psi to 15psi for that section we would have much more grip. out this, including how to dramatically increase your traction in slippery terrain by temporarily dropping your air pressure to a very low level. hen we wear out these stock tyres, we will fit some rim locks Shinko 244 tyres which are a much better dual sport solution.
