Description: Contrary to the panicky voices of parents since the 80s, video games don't actually teach players how to rip people's heads off in real life. Obviously not even the highest rank in competitive Streetfighter or Tekken play would prepare a nerdy couch potato to step into the ring if all they do is gaming. However... is there anything at all that one could learn, particularly from more realistic games like Kingdom Come Deliverance or Hellish Quart? Or perhaps from punishingly difficult experiences like Dark Souls / Elden Ring that force you to be strategic, adapt, and "git gud"? Let's entertain the idea for a bit, just for fun. Needless to say I don't condone or encourage anyone to take anything they see in virtual fantasy worlds and try it out in reality. Especially not dangerous activities like sword fighting. *** Music credits *** "Spirit Waltz" by Horrorpen opengameart.org/content/spirit-waltz Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license (CC BY 3.0) Outro: "Highland Storm" by The Slanted Room Records theslantedroom.github.io/steve.yee Used with artist's permission *** Merch *** bonfire.com/store/skallswag *** Support the channel *** Help fund future videos, get bonus content and access to an exclusive Discord server patreon.com/skallagrim subscribestar.com/skallagrim youtube.com/channel/UC3WIohkLkH4GFoMrrWVZZFA/join Other ways to support the channel by shopping through affiliate links: Kult of Athena, my favorite online store for reproductions of historical arms and armor, fantasy swords, etc: kultofathena.com/?koa=259 Where to get HEMA gear and practice swords: woodenswords.com/?Click=1799 Want to treat your face fluff?
