Description: This week’s focus is in many ways an extension of last week’s focus on health and inequality, but this week we’ll examine the effects of climate change on inequality. In my view, it’s an issue that hasn’t gained nearly the attention it should. Among the questions I’ll be addressing are: How do environmental issues connect to wealth/income, racial, and geographic inequality? What role does environmental policy play in addressing this inequality? How will different communities be affected by climate change? What role do social movements play in addressing environmental justice issues? I really am pleased to be able to bring you my Wealth and Poverty course. This is the twelfth class in the 14-week series, which I will continue to post every Monday here on YouTube. If you wish, I’ve shared some select readings from the syllabus for you. They’re available at: robertreich.substack.com/p/wealth-and-poverty-week-12 Class Outline ------------------------- 0:00 Current events and prior classes recap 5:38 Introduction 6:32 Health, wealth, and the environment in the East Bay 20:14 Where to locate toxic and dirty industries 40:28 Adapting to climate change 1:00:33 Mitigating climate change
