Description: LYRICS BELOW! "We Put in Work (On a Construction Site) is a rap written by Fluency MC and public works students at Lycée Eugène Freyssinet in Saint-Brieuc, France to practice English vocabulary for construction work and infrastructure projects for recreational, employment, and health and safety uses in the greater community. LYRICS On a construction site, we dig with shovels. We lift with forklifts. We measure with levels. We cut with saws. We lay sand and tar. We work in the daylight and under the stars. We load with backhoes and unload with dump trucks. We pave with our hands. We lift materials with cranes. We excavate with diggers and use dumpers to move rocks. We work in the sun and in the pouring rain. Trenches are dug. Debris is removed. Cement is mixed, concrete is leveled and the surfaces are smoothed. Pipes are put in. Curbs and manholes are installed. We put up scaffolding and tear down walls. On a construction site, we have so many tasks. In public works, we put in work to improve our communities. On a site, we’re always busy; there is so much to do. In public works, we put in work for me and for you. PPE is Personal Protective Equipment What do we wear? And why do we wear it? We wear hard hats to protect our heads and avoid concussions from falling objects. We wear goggles to protect our eyes and dust masks to avoid breathing toxic products. Ear plugs protect our ears from loud noise. We put on safety shoes to protect our feet. Safety gloves protect our hands and reduce pain. We wear Hi-Viz safety vests so people can see us in the street. On a construction site, we have so many tasks. In public works, we put in work to improve our communities. On a site, we’re always busy; there is so much to do. In public works, we put in work for me and for you.
