Description: Epoxy resin table / Making resin river table with "liquid metal " Making Epoxy furniture OUR STORE etsy.com/shop/KwoodStore?ref=search_shop_redirect GET CA GLUE - STARBOND (Refereal Link ) starbond.com/?rfsn=4557316.a825db Discount code : Slovenianwoodworker Follow me on IG instagram.com/slovenian_woodworker During this strange times and self quarantine i have more than enough time for little projects and everything else basically. I had doubts to make river table because I'm actually not a fan of them and the Internet is flooded with so many kinds of epoxy resin furniture. So if i will make one i decided that it will be difrent and I'll make just one. This resin table is made mostly from scrap wood. On my scrap and leftover shelf i have quite a lot pieces off all kind of wood from previous projects. I always store what can be stored. So whole base is made from walnut scraps. They are jointed under 45 bevel and reinforced with maple inserts. This simple technique gives usually week mitered joint a lot of strength. One year ago I made walnut coffee table with Bowties and that beautiful walnut wood was my own. From same stack of lumber comes this walnut that i use for this resin coffee table. That last piece was laying in my shop for couple of years and i didn't have much use of it. Because of it's shape and lack of hardwood i was sure it will end up as fire wood. Luckily the idea arrived and i use it. This resin table is based on similar coffee table that i made not so long ago. And it was sold in Canada 🍁.( I didn't cheat with that one :)) It had similar but more spectacular pattern of epoxy resin ( check my Instagram) . And to have some listings in our store i decided to replicate it. Unfortunately pattern is not that good looking than on original epoxy coffee table. But I'm happy with it anyway πŸ˜‚ Epoxy resin is basic woodworking epoxy with mixed in aluminium particles. The key to get this kind of look is to be patient and have a bit of understanding what's happening. Most all epoxy resin additives are heavier than epoxy. That means even if you mix them good they will fall to the bottom of your work and possibly ruin your work. To prevent that you have to raise them up. The more you do that the better it will look. It took me around 2-3 hrs of my 100% focus to get it as it is now. Once you feel that coffee table resin gets hot and dense than you i don't have to worry anymore. It can happen that there will be some bubbles or holes because of air and whole epoxy resin reaction but don't worry. Once you pour last clear coat that imperfections won't be that noticeable. That liquid metal look comes from additive called Aluminium dust or aluminium particles. You can find it in your epoxy resin supplier. It's quite common. To make this resin table it took me about 4 days of bulit. Most time it took me to watch and wait so epoxy resin gets hard πŸ˜‚. I hope you like this new resin table and that you can learn something from it. Let me know in the comments what you think. I appreciate every one! I appreciate your support, take care during this strange times.
