But with all this information available why do so many guys seem to sound more helpless, rather than smarter? Is it just the quality of information that’s the problem? Or the amount of information that leaves us confused? Yes these are factors…but the biggest factor is something else in my opinion. FEEDS. What do you do when you get your phone out? You bring up YouTube, tiktok, insta, twitter, Facebook whatever it is and you look at what these sites put in front of you. That’s the first step for most people right? Take YouTube…How often do you actually go on the YouTube search engine and look for something specific that you want to know about? 5 % of the time? 10%? So what happens instead? You pick from what YouTube serves you. On your homepage , in your suggested videos. Because we’re mostly too lazy to actually DECIDE what we want BEFORE we turn on the app. It’s easier to just switch on and pick something from what YouTube offers us. So we watch whatever the YOUTUBE algorithm thinks we might like, rather than what WE actually would like to watch. We happily let our options be drastically reduced…because it requires less mental energy at that moment. And overall, it makes us feel more and more out of charge. We’re just absorbing information, entertainment etc which feels more or less relevant to us…but not truly RELEVANT at that moment. So in the end it feels more like entertainment and escape rather than getting meaningful relevant solutions to the biggest challenges we want to overcome. And we turn more and more into feed junkies, zombies mindlessly scrolling tiktok, instagram, YouTube because it’s providing a steady stream of some sort of novelty or escape from reality.
