Description: The later summer of 1965 - Operation Starlite was the first major offensive action conducted by a purely U.S. military unit (USMC) during the Vietnam War from 18 to 24 August 1965. Corporal Robert E. O'Malley (3/3 Marines) and the late Lance Corporal Joe C. Paul (2/4 Marines) received the Medal of Honor for their actions during the operation - O'Malley being the first Marine to be awarded the CMH during the Vietnam War.
