Description: U.S. Special Forces rapidly deploy on snow-machines from Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska to Utqiagvik, Alaska on a U.S. Air Force C-130 on March 8, 2018 as part of the Joint Force Land Component Command in support of exercise Arctic Edge 18. U.S. Army Alaska, at the direction of Alaskan Command is hosting Arctic Edge 2018, a biennial, large-scale, joint training exercise that prepares and tests the U.S. military’s ability to operate tactically in the extreme cold-weather conditions found in Arctic environments. As the JFLCC, U.S. Army Alaska is testing readiness and training new capabilities to defend the homeland on behalf of the North American Aerospace Defense and U.S. Northern Command.
