I approached this song like it was an old school movie, where the guy moves from the east coast to west coast for a relationship. The line in the chorus “I wonder what you’ll lie to your next lover about me”, pretty much explains the entire song. After a relationship, often times people become strangers and never speak to each other again, but don’t you sometimes wonder what your ex says about you to their future relationships? Memories can warp/distort, and often times how you remember stuff is different than the other person. Darla - “we spent years…YEARS together….. and this is how you show me love? You neva try, you neva try and speak my love language.” Billy - “Well ya never try and UNDERSTAND MY love language, it’s always me that’s doing something wrong, ME. Can’t chya understand it’s a two way street?” Darla - “Why don‘t chya put out that cigarette hun, and well talk about this without that disgusting smoke” Billy - “Oh so now it’s disgusting, ya used to love that about me, what happened to that?” Darla - “I dunno Billy maybe - “ A giant explosion is heard outside. They are both stunned, and run outside. In the evening sky they see a GIANT moving shadow, they can hear screams in the distance. They both run back inside. Billy - “I’m sorry Darla, I know I can be stubborn like my fatha. I’m an idiot sometimes. I just…I really love ya and can’t do this life thing without ya” Darla - “Oh Billy, your so stupid. I love ya too.” Darla puts her hand up to Billy’s face, and they both smile. Darla - “maybe we both stupid, right hon?" The shadow breaks through the windows, and wraps itself around the couple. They both look at each other, scared. A man with his face hidden under his hat walks in. He smirks - “best be goin you two.” AND SCENE. Not sure what this is, but didn’t think twice and wrote it LOL.
