Description: This is an excerpt from the 177 hours of PDC and ATC video at pdcvid.com - That's me giving my "Animals in the Landscape" presentation! I say "truly free range" because the chickens are actually out in the sun. Most factory farms say "free range" and the chickens still see no sun. My rig still has scratches on the sides from where the chickens couldn't quite roost on the car windows. With truly free range it is possible to have a 10 for everything! I proceed to show photographic proof of: chicken unmulching my trees; chickens pooping on new wood; chickens reshaping trees for their own roosting pleasure; chickens pooping on a bench; chickens pooping on hay; turkeys and chickens pooping on the porch; and of course the beautiful part where a hen has chicks. Chickens will eat all of the dog or cat food. Chickens will destroy a garden. Gardens, soils and pastures do far better with pulsed presence of chickens in a paddock shift system. Don't eat eggs from a weird spot - that's for the pigs. Chicken poop in the shop and on the workbench. Chickens nesting in the baler. Truly free range chickens are more difficult to protect from predators.
