Description: See for yourself how TransPennine Express's new Nova trains are transforming travel across the Pennines and between the NW and Scotland. TransPennine Express's new Nova 1, Nova 2 & Nova 3 trains bring a 60%+ capacity increase and intercity ambience to the Liverpool - Manchester - Leeds - York - Scarborough/Newcastle route and the Manchester/Liverpool to Glasgow/Edinburgh route. These new Nova trains are all 5-car, replacing older mostly 3-car trains. Together, these new trains represent a step-change in capacity, comfort & facilities across the North of England and into Scotland. Nova 1 is a 125 mph train built by Hitachi. It's a hybrid, meaning it can run on diesel or electric power. It's similar to LNER's Azuma and Great Western's new intercity trains. They operate the main Liverpool - Manchester - Leeds - York - Newcastle TransPennine Express route. Nova 2 is an all-electric 125 mph train, built by Basque manufacturer CAF and used for the Liverpool/Manchester to Edinburgh/Glasgow service. Nova 3 is also built by CAF, a push-pull train with a locomotive at one end and driving cab at the other. They operate Liverpool - Manchester - Leeds - York - Scarborough/Middlesborough
