Marginalised on the outskirts of the big cities we find derelict scenes that we’d prefer not to see and the city councils keep away from the view. Here we find an interesting metaphor and parallels with graffiti, when we determine between what is ‘beautiful’ or ‘ugly’, according to global aesthetic standards. Through the photographs of Bego Solís and the writers involved, we find traces of beauty in a crumbling and lifeless environment. An event, an attitude, a texture, a shape or a colour that gives us an aesthetic appreciation that goes beyond the norm and offers an alternative perspective that stems from misunderstanding and we find equally valid. "Abandoned spots and forgotten places (...) represent the failure of something in the system, as if something hasn’t worked and the fact of being there makes me feel more distant from the system and from society".
