Apart from this chart, the weather briefing also contains the satellite weather, weather of the departure, destination and all alternates. This is the time when the captain and first officer decide how much fuel they take with them, according to the forecasted weather. Once in the air, we have a weather radar which shows us the weather ahead of us, depending on the selected angle of the radar. By showing u different colors, we as pilots can identify how bad the weather ahead of us actually is. If our route shows us directly through the cb, then of course we will request to fly another heading. The same counts for clouds which are approaching us.
