The Javelin automatically orients itself at the target once launched, allowing the gunner to take cover and avoid a counterattack from the enemy. Marines or Soldiers can reposition immediately after firing or reload to engage another threat. The FGM-148 Javelin climbs above its target using a curved top attack profile to increase visibility and attack the weakest armor. The shooter places the cursor over the target he wants to select. The Javelin command launch unit then sends a pre-launch lock signal to the missile. With its soft launch design, the Javelin can be fired safely from the bunker or inside the building.
