Lama Dorje spent four years in silent meditation during his training to become a lama. Many monks who complete this vow of silence end up going crazy, but Lama Dorje made it out with his mind intact and has so much wisdom to share from this experience. I went to see Lama Dorje when I was in Costa Rica in January 2022. During this time I was going through quite a process. I ended up developing an ear infection that came from swimmer’s ear physically, but I truly believe that emotionally I manifested this physical symptom. I had never had an ear infection as an adult, but it was so not fun. It hurt to chew and the pressure on the entire left side of my head was very intense. Reflecting on this, I feel this ear infection was symbolic of many of the emotional issues I was going through at the time, mainly around not listening to myself and my intuition, feeling unable to trust myself, and the massive pressure I was putting on myself. When I met Lama Dorje, he said this was symbolic of having a blockage with my feminine energy and that it was important for me to listen to my heart and give myself more self-love and compassion. I wanted to make a full video about Lama Dorje, but I was really struggling the day that I went to meet him. I was in so much pain and was not able to continue filming the video. So we stopped the cameras and I got to speak with him one-on-one to receive some guidance and advice. This meant a lot to me. The energy he shared was so loving and pure. He didn’t care if I made a video or not. He had no expectations and he just wanted to help and share his wisdom. I felt like he was seeing me for my worth and value as a human being, and not for how much I can produce or create, which is a lot of how I had been judging myself. This video is not like my other videos. I don’t have some crazy experience to share, I just wanted to be honest with what happened and share this in the hopes that it might be supportive to some of you!
