Description: THE VALIANT TAILOR ComicColor Ub Iwerks Vintage Cartoon Animation Rubber Hose Cuphead inspiration #animation #cartoons #cuphead Ubbe Ert Iwwerks (March 24, 1901 – July 7, 1971), known as Ub Iwerks (/ˈʌb ˈaɪwɜːrks/), was an American animator, cartoonist, character designer, inventor, and special effects technician, who designed Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and Mickey Mouse. Iwerks produced alongside Walt Disney and won numerous awards, including multiple Academy Awards. Fleischer Studios (/ˈflaɪʃər/) is an American animation studio founded in 1929 by brothers Max and Dave Fleischer, who ran the pioneering company from its inception until its acquisition by Paramount Pictures, the parent company and the distributor of its films. In its prime, Fleischer Studios was a premier producer of animated cartoons for theaters, with Walt Disney Productions being its chief competitor in the 1930s. Today, the company is again family owned and oversees the licensing and merchandising for its characters. Fleischer Studios characters included Koko the Clown, Betty Boop, Bimbo, Popeye the Sailor, and Superman. Unlike other studios, whose characters were anthropomorphic animals, the Fleischers' most successful characters were humans (with the exception of Bimbo, a black-and-white cartoon dog). The cartoons of the Fleischer Studio were very different from those of Disney, both in concept and in execution. As a result, they were rough rather than refined and consciously artistic rather than commercial, but in their unique way, their artistry was expressed through a culmination of the arts and sciences.[1] This approach focused on surrealism, dark humor, adult psychological elements, and sexuality. Furthermore, the environments were grittier and urban, often set in squalid surroundings, reflecting the Great Depression as well as German Expressionism. Betty Boop is an animated cartoon character created by Max Fleischer, with help from animators including Grim Natwick.[19][20][21] She originally appeared in the Talkartoon and Betty Boop film series, which were produced by Fleischer Studios and released by Paramount Pictures. She was featured in 90 theatrical cartoons between 1930 and 1939.[22] She has also been featured in comic strips and mass merchandising. A caricature of a Jazz Age flapper, Betty Boop was described in a 1934 court case as "combin[ing] in appearance the childish with the sophisticated—a large round baby face with big eyes and a nose like a button, framed in a somewhat careful coiffure, with a very small body of which perhaps the leading characteristic is the most self-confident little bust imaginable".[23] Although she was toned down in the mid-1930s as a result of the Hays Code to appear more demure, Betty Boop became one of the best-known and popular cartoon characters in the world. Cuphead (also known as Cuphead: "Don't Deal with the Devil") is a 2017 run-and-gun video game developed and published by Studio MDHR. It was inspired by the rubber hose style from the golden age of American animation, and the subversive and surrealist qualities of works of Walt Disney Animation Studios and Fleischer Studios. One or two players control protagonist Cuphead and his brother Mugman to fight through several levels that culminate in boss fights, in order to repay their debt to the Devil. The game was praised for its art style, gameplay, soundtrack, and difficulty. It was a critical and commercial success, winning several awards with more than six million copies sold within three years. A Netflix animated series, The Cuphead Show!, premiered on February 18, 2022. An expansion titled The Delicious Last Course is scheduled for release on June 30, 2022. _______ CHANNEL DESCRIPTION Goon Cartoons makes original short films, comedy, humor, animation, cartoons, pencil tests and experimental films.
