Jerry O'Connell asks, "Picard takes place in 2401, but you traveled back to the 21st century in 2024. What's going on?" Ryan explains, "There's a character called Q [John deLancie] who's this omniscient being, who changes something in the timeline and sends us all into this alternate, really dystopian, horrible, xenophobic alternate future. So we have to go back in time to fix this divergence in the timeline.
