While not the first WWF ladder match, it holds the distinction of being the most influential ladder contest in wrestling history and it's a bonafide WrestleMania classic. In 1995, HBK and Razor Ramon were given the task of putting on the rematch, the Intercontinental Championship would be on the line once again, and both guys didn't want to do it. Shawn and Razor knew there was no way a ladder match at SummerSlam 1995 could live up to the original at WrestleMania X. However, SummerSlam 1995 lacked a big marquee match and PPV buys were low all year. Against their better judgement, Hall and Michaels agreed to do the match. The day of the show, Shawn and Razor were told that the ladder couldn't be used to directly cause damage during the match, meaning a key element of the bout was taken away.
