In fact, this is actually a spoiler for The Winds of Winter. In a note left by A Song of Ice and Fire author, George R.R. Martin, he said, the Stark's direwolves will eventually face off against Ramsay Bolton's hounds. This was first set up in the last episode written by George R.R. Martin, The Lion and the Rose.
