Description: This scene follows a 1h 5m video where I rewire a car from scratch. The car didn't work before I started it, so... I just want you all to know I'm safe and sound, staying at home and I've been working non-stop on the next big release. I've run in to some technical difficulties, and you KNOW I'm not going to release an un-finished project, so I'm giving you this update. This was a week ago and I'm STILL working on this project. Once I figure this out and fix it, get the popcorn and your favorite beverage ready. I'm going to drop the single largest and most complicated video I've ever made. Don't watch it while driving because you'll be in a different state by the time it's finished. The current project has required 67 full 64GB memory cards, I've thrown away 4TB of video to make a master file that gags even the largest of storage devices. It's the kind of project that makes people quit YouTube. I'm not quitting YouTube. I'm not a quitter. Even if this ends in complete failure I'm going to finish failing first before I ever quit. I know there's going to be a million questions, and I don't want to repeat myself, so here are the facts: • It's a completely new engine harness made from scratch with mostly minor exceptions. • The original tachometer signal circuit with plugs and body harness connector was moved over to the new harness. • The original knock sensor circuit w/plug was moved over to the new harness. • The original diagnostic and test connectors were moved over to the new harness. • Every pin of every connector probes for continuity correctly as per service manual illustrations and in comparison to the same pins on the old mangled harness. • Every harness connector and wire except for the Hyundai body connector, knock sensor, tach filter (soon to change) and test connectors are brand new. • When connected and keyOn I get ECU power and ground, it completes startup (5 sec CEL) and I can connect to ECMlink to see most sensors responding. • Air and coolant temp work. Baro works. TPS, idle switch, Wideband o2 work. Clutch switch, battery voltage work. • MPI relay functioning as expected with key. Fuel pump doesn't run until I turn the key, ECU powers up at key on, etc... • Great fuel pressure. • When I crank..., you watched the video, you saw what happened. No I didn't crank my car for a full minute straight. • No spark, no injector pulse • No crank or cam signal • CAS white wire pin 1 is connected to ECU pin 22, has continuity, probes 5V when ECU is on and connected. • CAS little black wire pin 2 is connected to ECU pin 21, has continuity, probes 5V when ECU is on and connected. • CAS red wire pin 3 is connected to ECU pin 102/107, has continuity, probes 12V when ECU is on and connected. • CAS big black wire runs straight to engine ground lug #7 by the ECU. • Spare CAS didn't produce a RPM signal either, and both are known-good. • Coil and Transistor back-probe to all of the correct ECU and connector pins as well. Power and grounds are good. • Trying this ECU in a different car to see if I blew something up. Hope not. But I could have? I found my spare 90 coil and transistor, but I've not needed to go that far yet. A crank signal would tell me if those worked or not. Based off of all of my tests, she should have everything she needs to start. This is the delay on an otherwise completed video release. This is the kind of stuff that's only supposed to happen to other "reality" car shows on TV just to create drama. It's not supposed to happen to my channel here on YouTube. Anyway I've been performing every test I can every evening after work, and immediately following signs of life there will be a video. 6:40 PM update Apr 9, 2020: Well I popped the ECU in the Galant after swapping pins 6 and 14 on the Galant ECU connectors and, the Hyundai tune for speed density fired the GM MAF Galant right up. It's not the ECU. ECU's fine. Quite the smoke show, though. Pretty rich... but that narrows the problem down to me, and my work. For such a big job that I get so many questions about, I refuse to finish a product that gives this topic the full experience. I have to narrow it down to what part of my work caused this situation? The notes and documents are public on my Patreon page. Jafro's being taught a lesson right now and I'll post updates there as soon as I can figure out what that lesson is? 9:54 AM update Apr 14, 2020: Patreon has been previewing the finished product since yesterday at 5:00. I finished the video and it goes live today at 5:00 PM.
