Description: Qualcomm Director of XR Product Management Steve Lukas introduces developers at Augmented Reality World Expo to Snapdragon™ Spaces XR Developer Platform and how it’s going to empower developers to create immersive experiences for AR glasses that adapt to the spaces around us, Snapdragon Spaces provides a uniform set of AR features that are designed to be independent of device manufacturer. With it, you can develop unparalleled immersive, headworn AR experiences that push the limits of creativity with reduced developer friction. The Snapdragon Spaces platform provides environmental and user understanding capabilities that give developers the tools to create headworn AR experiences that can sense and intelligently interact with the user and adapt to their physical indoor spaces. Some of the marquee environmental understanding features include spatial mapping and meshing, occlusion, plane detection, object and image recognition and tracking, local anchors and persistence, and scene understanding. The user understanding machine perception features include positional tracking and hand tracking. The goal of Snapdragon Spaces is to help accelerate the AR developer ecosystem. Leading smartphone and AR hardware OEMs, including Lenovo, Motorola, OPPO, and Xiaomi are initial partners to support Snapdragon Spaces in 2022. The Lenovo ThinkReality A3 smart glasses paired with a Motorola Smartphone will be the first to commercialize Snapdragon Spaces. To help developers reach their immersive experience creative goals, the Snapdragon Spaces Pathfinder program was designed to give qualifying developers early access to platform technology, project funding, co-marketing and promotion, and hardware development kits. Qualcomm Technologies is a pioneer in Augmented Reality with over a decade of AR and VR research and development. The Snapdragon XR1 and Snapdragon XR2 platforms are featured in over 50 headworn AR/VR viewers globally. Snapdragon XR platforms help XR devices deliver immersive video and audio solutions across entertainment, education, industrial enterprise, and more.
