Why would we desire this? In this video essay I try to explain this desire through three characters from Fight Club, Breaking Bad and The Joker. Is chaos and disaster a way to self-improvement and freedom? I found this concept originally from the dictionary of obscure sorrows. This longing for the clarity of disaster is very paradoxical and an interesting psychological concept to explore through Brad Pitt's character Tyler Durden and Edward Norton as the narrator in Fight Club, Walter White in Breaking Bad and the Joker. I use both the joker from the Dark Knight and the recent Joker movie. Can we find power in chaos and disaster and is it a way to radical personality change?
