Whether that pattern will be used for a melody line, a guitar solo, or for playing guitar riffs - we all would like to discover that "Best" pattern one day! Major scale is typically taught (in our guitar text-books), by way of learning all the vertical, "in position" patterns. While those in-position patterns are great to understand for the long term, they don't make the "best" patterns for immediate application to the most interesting melodies. A better scale shape is one that travels 'along and across' the fingerboard. That type is the one we need to focus on learning. That style of shape is often referred to as an, "along the neck" scale pattern and they will work fantastic for creating the most interesting melodic phrases. With that said, this lesson will introduce one of the best along the neck Major Scale patterns that you can learn to perform on the guitar. After learning it, a perfect exercise is to apply the pattern and create melodic lines. NOTE: My Patreon members will receive an MP3 Jam-Track to practice with.
