Description: Until a few decades ago, homelessness in America, wasn't very visible. But for the past decades, the American government has retracted more and more from programs to support the homeless. Homeless people who used to have a temporary shelter, are now on the streets much more often. It really shows the collapse of the American Dream that is becoming impossible to reach for many Americans. The top 1% of richest Americans own 40% of the nations wealth, the poorest 40% of Americans own less than 1% of America's wealth. For the past few decades, the gap between the rich and the poor has been growing significantly. There is no clearer way to demonstrate this, than by making a virtual trip to the streets of Los Angeles in California, through Google Street View. The place where the American Dream was born, and where it's coming to an end. Many people from all over the world don't know about this, and even many Americans do not fully realize it, but In Los Angeles, thousands upon thousands of people are living in tents on the streets. This is not politically motivated propaganda to bash the United States of America, it is the stone cold reality of a failed system. By now, Los Angeles has one of the largest homeless populations of any city in the world. Close to 40.000 people in Los Angeles, are living on the streets. The USA is rich enough to offer shelter to the homeless. But American politics has chosen not to take on this issue. Resulting in thousands of Americans balancing on the edge of existence everyday. It compromises the American Dream and the entire concept of Western culture. In this video I take you on a virtual trip through Skid Row, now also known as 'tent city' in Los Angeles, so that you can see the end of the American Dream with your own eyes.
