Description: Did you know there are about 1700 species of Australian native bee? And about 20,000 worldwide! 🌏 Teddy Bear Bees (Amegilla) are native Australian bees. They have golden brown colouring and range from 15-20mm in length. They are a native solitary bee and make small shallow burrows in soil or eroded banks. Teddy Bear Bees are kind of like Australia's version of a bumblebee. This Teddy Bear Bee is collecting nectar from Pentas flowers, and while doing that she is also helping pollinate the plant. The bee is lured to the flower for a sugary drink of nectar and while doing that her furry body also picks up pollen, which is then transferred to other flowers she visits on her foraging journey. Without pollination, not only would most wildflowers not be able to produce new seedlings but many crop plants would not be able to produce the fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds and oils which are an important part of the food we eat 🍎πŸ₯‘πŸ₯’ #beefact #teddybearbees #beesarecool #pollination #shorts
