This modification is not permanent and easily installs in minutes. This upgrade will increase your Smith & Wesson M&P-22 Compact pistol magazine's capacity from the factory 10 rounds to 14 rounds. With one (1) in the chamber and 14 in the magazine, that's 15 rounds in the gun! Since the button on the factory magazine is removed when installing the high capacity parts, the function of locking the slide open on the last shot fired is lost. That button on the side of the factory magazine is used to actuate the slide lock feature on the gun. The NicTaylor follower is designed to catch the slide itself and thus lock the slide back/open. This technique is used frequently on AR15 22lr conversion kits. However, when doing this the user looses the ability to drop the mag free since the magazine is essentially being stopped from falling free when the mag release is pressed. The user will either have to pull the magazine out or pull the slide back to its most rearward position and manually engage the slide lock. This will allow for the magazine to drop free.
